Kritika Bhag 2 is the supplementary companion to क्षितिज भाग 2, the main Class 10 Hindi Course 'A' reader, and both are prescribed together for the board examination. Where Kshitij is divided into short poetry and prose chapters with heavy language work, Kritika carries longer complete pieces meant to be read whole — memoir, reportage, narrative essay and story. The prescribed set includes माता का अँचल, जॉर्ज पंचम की नाक, साना-साना हाथ जोड़ि... and एही ठैयाँ झुलनी हेरानी हो रामा!.
The supplementary reader is where a student answers on a whole text rather than a paragraph. The questions after each chapter ask what the writer is arguing, what an episode signifies, and how a character is placed — and they call for an answer in the student's own words. जॉर्ज पंचम की नाक, a satire, is examined on what it is mocking rather than on the events it narrates; साना-साना हाथ जोड़ि..., a travel account of Sikkim, on what the writer observes rather than where she goes. None of that survives a guide's summary.
Kritika Bhag 2 carries its own weightage in the Class 10 Hindi Course 'A' board paper. Used alongside क्षितिज भाग 2, it completes the prescribed course.
