Rajasthan History as an academic subject is effectively unbounded — every princely state, every ruler, every battle, every treaty, every revolt. Rajasthan History as an examination subject is much narrower, and the boundary is visible only in the question papers. The same rulers, the same handful of battles, the same jan-andolan and prajamandal movements, the same forts and inscriptions return year after year, while large tracts of the academic subject are never touched. A book compiled from what was actually asked cuts the reading load without cutting marks, which is the whole proposition.
The authorship supports that. These are working candidates and selected officers rather than academic writers — a serving police officer, an RES rank-holder, a Patwar selectee — and the selection reflects what people who have sat these papers know about them: which facts recur, which distinctions the examiner likes to test, and which detail is worth memorising against which is not.
