This is the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) supplementary reader in English for Class XII, Vistas, prescribed for the Core Course. Vistas is the supplementary companion to Flamingo, the main Class 12 English core reader, and both are needed for the full course. Each chapter is followed by "Reading with Insight" questions, which are the questions the board paper draws on most directly.
The supplementary reader carries a fixed weightage in the CBSE Class 12 English Core paper, and it is the section students most often underprepare. The questions asked are not comprehension questions in the ordinary sense — they ask for the theme, the writer's intent, a character's motive, or the significance of an incident, and they expect answers written in the student's own words with support from the text.
