This is Radha Bahuguna's Introductory Macroeconomics and Indian Economic Development for Class XII, published by Dhanpat Rai & Co. as a set of three books including project work, Edition 2026-27. It is an English medium (Roman script) set — the complete text, numericals, solutions and project guidance are in English, and there is no Hindi content in it. It is prepared for the CBSE Class 12 economics course, following the latest CBSE syllabus.
The Class 12 economics paper has two halves and this set covers both, which is the practical advantage of buying it together rather than separately. Introductory Macroeconomics covers national income and related aggregates — circular flow, the value added, income and expenditure methods, GDP and welfare; money and banking — money supply, commercial banks, credit creation and the functions of the Reserve Bank of India; determination of income and employment — aggregate demand and supply, the multiplier, excess and deficient demand and their correctives; government budget and the economy; and balance of payments with exchange rate systems. Indian Economic Development covers the Indian economy on the eve of Independence, the years of planning from 1950 to 1990, economic reforms since 1991, poverty, human capital formation, rural development, employment, infrastructure, environment and sustainable development, and the comparative development experience of India, China and Pakistan.
The two halves are examined quite differently, and a student has to prepare for both. Macroeconomics turns on numericals — national income problems where the answer depends on which items are included — while Indian Economic Development turns on structured written answers stating a policy, its objective, its outcome and an evaluation in the syllabus's own terms. Books that treat one half well and the other as an afterthought leave a gap; this set gives each its own volume.
The third book covers project work, which carries its own marks in Class 12 economics and is the component students most often leave until the last week. It sets out the expected structure of a project report and what an examiner looks for.
The set is used alongside the prescribed NCERT economics textbooks, which remain the source the board sets its questions on.
