World Geography is the section candidates most often prepare badly, and the reason is that it looks like memorisation and is not. Reading lists of the world's rivers, mountain ranges, deserts and straits produces almost nothing usable, because the examiner rarely asks for a name in isolation. The questions turn on association — which range separates which two countries, which current affects which coast, which crop belongs to which climatic belt, which strait connects which seas. Facts learnt as isolated items do not survive contact with that framing.
This is why the chapter-wise PYQ compilation is the useful part of the book. It shows which associations the paper actually builds, which regions return repeatedly and which are effectively never asked. World Geography as an academic subject covers the entire planet; as an examination subject it covers a much smaller and quite stable set of things, and only the question papers reveal where that boundary lies. For a candidate with a wide syllabus and finite time, that boundary is worth more than additional reading.
